We all brush our teeth, but many of us have never been shown the correct way to do so. Whether you use a manual or electric toothbrush, the technique is similar.
A soft bristle brush is preferable in order to avoid damaging the gums and teeth. A pea size amount of fluoride toothpaste is all that is needed on the head of the toothbrush. Fluoride helps strengthen your teeth every time you brush.
Try and get in the habit of starting in a specific part of your mouth, like your upper left in the back. Brushing all your teeth and angling the bristles towards the gums helps clean in hard to reach places. Cover 1/4 of your teeth in about 30 seconds then move on to another section of the mouth. After 2 minutes, spit out the extra toothpaste and feel the fresh breath!
If you use an electric toothbrush, let the brush do the work for you, if you have a manual one, use small, gentle, circular motions. Don’t brush too hard or you can cause your gums to recede and actually wear away at your teeth over time!
Brush for 2 minutes, 2x a day, morning and night for best results.
