TOOTH EXTRACTIONS

Sometimes when a cavity gets big enough, a tooth breaks, or if a patient decides not to try to save a tooth by other means, a tooth will need to be extracted. Most extractions can be done in a very short time. After administering anesthesia to numb the area, the doctor will extract the tooth from the socket and clean the area. The patient may feel the sensation of pressure, but no sharp pain should be felt. Certain cases may require a surgical extraction which is more involved and may result in the need for a few stitches to help the patient heal. Instructions are given to the patient and follow up as needed will be discussed. Tooth extraction is one of the quickest, easiest, and most affordable ways to get out of a toothache quickly, however your doctor will always take the time to explain other options if there are any, before a decision is made to take the tooth out.
